The University of South Florida (USF) is one of the countrys largest and most active national research universities. It started its operation in the year 1960 with nearly 2,000 enrollees only. Presently, USF has already a population of more than 43,000 students that are enrolled in 200 degree programs at all levels. It is located on north Tampa with several regional campuses offering different degrees which include St. Petersburg, Lakeland, and Sarasota/Manatee. USF also has additional centers in Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando counties and downtown Tampa.
USF is one of the universities in the country that is acknowledged by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching (CFAT) as Research University (Very High Research Activity). Because of this, the university is granted $287 million in external funding to support research and development projects. Its library facilities have more than 1.6 million titles and provide access to hundreds of databases worldwide.
